Technology in the Classroom
I am an avid twitter user. If I am not tweeting about my life, I am tweeting about pageant stuff or about League of Legends. Twitter is a simple, everyday, app I use on my phone or my computer. To use the app, you just create an account and begin tweeting. People tweet about anything and everything. They just type their thoughts into the box and "tweet" it. Then they follow other people so they can see their tweets as well! Pictures and links may also be tweeted. There is even a retweet button! This means, if you like someone's tweet, you and re-post it onto your page for your followers to see.
Twitter is a tool that could also be used in the classroom. Students could create a twitter and follow the class twitter account that their teacher created. This will allow the teacher to stay in contact with their class. The teacher could use the twitter account to post about class cancellations and changes. The teacher could also use twitter to notify the students of up coming due dates or assignments. This could possibly encourage the students to complete their work since they are seeing it on their social media timeline. It may make them think twice about continuing to play on their phone, or get their work done. This could be very beneficial since students could get their teachers tweets alerted straight to their phone. The teachers would also be able to share links or interesting articles that may interest their students. Both, students and teachers may find the use of this app in the classroom very handy. Many of the students already have the app on their phone! Social media in the classroom could be used in such a positive educational way.
I agree with what you say. I also use twitter a lot and it is a convenient way to keep in touch with social events and even keep in touch with close friends.
ReplyDeleteTwitter is a very interesting tool that can be used for almost any profession. For me personally I see it as a portal to new teaching styles, studies and information. I believe it can also be put to use in the education field in the classroom if a teacher wants to use it with his or her class. I think Twitter has a lot more potential than most people think.
ReplyDeleteTwitter is ruining my life. I have tweeted about every 5 minutes for the last 7 years. I have a problem because Twitter is too amazing.
